I guess I should pop in and actually say howdy instead of just posting a song.

Howdy.

I'm back at Domino's. I have been since...A week and a half after the last post. (Before Baba O'Reiley) Working in a call center, while a fine job and a wonderful opportunity, was not my bag, babies. My bag is making and delivering pizzas. I think. There's a local concern that makes and distributes computers and computer-related thingamobobbers. I might be sending in my resume.

I'm fairly happy at Domino's. I've worked out my problems with management, and they retaliated by making me a shift runner/team leader/guy a lot of people look to for answers. Plus, I get tips.

I got some new shoes yesterday, as my old ones were highly rank.

In other news, I just got a starter and 3 boosters for HorrorClix. It looks damn nifty, and I pulled a Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde as well as a Deep One and a Brine Witch. I'm ecstatic about the fish folk.

My months-long search for UA has come to fruition.

I'm playing World of Warcraft, with BC. My City of X account just lapsed, and I'll get it back up as soon as I can get a little money in my special MMORPG account.

Love ya'll. Sorry I haven't written sooner.

Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals
I get my back into my livin'
I don't need to fight to prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Don't cry, don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland...yeah...

Sally take my hand, we'll travel south cross land
Put out the fire, and don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here, the happy ones are near
Let's get together, before we get much older

Teenage wasteland
It's only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland
Oh, yeah
Teenage wasteland
They're all wasted!

So, today was my first day taking live calls.

Well, I'm glad to be home.  It wasn't horrible, but there's a lot to remember about the call, and I'm pretty sure I forgot a lot of it today.

Several calls were about PS3's and Wii's. People wanting to know when they're gonna get it, if it's gonna come in in time for Thanksgiving (!), etc.

Got a couple of "where's my stuff" calls, but they were generally very easy.

Welp, tomorrow's another day. More calls and cheap Chinese food.

Today is my first day on the floor there at the Walmart.com.

I'm a little nervous, as is to be expected. Also, I got 2-1/2 days less practice than my class, as I was used as one of the go-to guys to help solve problems and show folks how to do shit.

Wish me luck. I'll try to tell you how it was when I get home.

Today was the day my class started taking live calls. I managed to be a helpperson/supervisor/guy you snap your fingers at rather than an on-the-phone associate. This was pretty good for two reasons:

1) The Playstation 3 bundle
2) The Nintendo Wii Bundle

Approximately 800,000 people were sent emails telling them that Walmart.com would have these available today at 12:00PST, and we did. For about 2 minutes (really!).

People were not happy.

However, I got to act like I know what I'm doing and shit. That was nice.

Right this very moment, I'm typing from an Ubuntu live disc thingamobobber.

Whee, cross-platforming can be fun!

It's 3:47 and I just got over a harddrive failure.

Rather, I can use my computer without it beeping in a most upsetting fashion.

My 300 gig harddrive went out last night at about this time, making a noise (mostly beeps and clicks) that woke the house.

I was able to get hold of a 120 gig drive to replace it. Maxtor makes moving the boot-up stuff easy, so I've been able to to take advantage of an old drive I had laying around the place.

Still, I hate that I lost the data. Some of the stuff on it was irreplaceable (since I don't always make hardcopies of my writings. I should, bu I don't.)

How was your day?

I'ma going to bed.

For all intents and purposes, I have dropped out of NaNoWriMo.

This doesn't mean that I won't try to write the story I started, It just means I know that I cannot catch up to the deadline now, and work is a little more exhausting than I expected.

Thanks to all me fans.

NaNoWriMo! [02 Nov 2006|10:55pm]
I'm doing National Novel Writing Month again, asthis is the perfect time for me to load up on projects. I started at Wal-Mart.com Wednesday, and am having a big ol' time in class. Also, I'm not allowed to bring in my own reading material or a notebook. Wheee!

If any of ya'll wanna be writing buddies or somesuch, I can be found in the listings as "menteroso".

Love yer guts,

menty.

So, it's time for menty to do one of his random life updates. That way all my fans can keep up with what I'm doing, Instead of having to look through issues of People.

It's a service I'm glad to perform.

Anyway.

I'm changing jobs. Not from management to driving or back or anything like that. I'm leaving Domino's for the local call center. I found out today that I sart on the 1st. I will be missed. (by their bullshit standards, I was the best driver, at least on paper...)

The little upstart game store apparently has some stuff I want. I thought they were just a GW outlet, and had mostly given them a pass. I'm trying not to collect minis right now. I went in after the testing and interview, and they had some hardback D&D, a copy of Feng Shui (I shoulda asked if they could get UA, didn't think about it then...), various 'clix, and Betrayal on House on the Hill. I got Betrayal. They also had Puerto Rico, which I may go back for later. Also some horrorclix, because that's how I roll.

Also, I'ma gonna try my hands at hobby electronics and robotics. I've wanted to build robots since I was six, and now I can. So, nyeah.

Love all ya'll,

menty.

So, I was thinking the other day...

When it comes to pen-and-paper RPGs, I'm not really a gamer anymore; I'm a collector. At this point, the reason for buying or trading for a new book is to have the book, not to have a cool new area to explore in my game. I don't have a gaming group; I haven't had one in 13 years. (damn, I feel old now.)

I should have written this down when it hit me, possibly yesterday, at work. I think I had a point.

So, I'm back to driving mostly. Also, I'm apparently doing some AM work, which in my mind entitles me to AM pay. I haven't run this theory past anyone else yet.

This November, A book called Popeye Vol. 1: "I Yam What I Yam " is being released by Fanagraphics. It's the first in a new reprint series of Thimble Theater and Popeye comic strips. (With color Sundays!) I'm excited.

I wonder, though, is there a reprint of the first 10 or so years of Thimble Theater, before Popeye came to town?

If so, where can I get my hands on it?

Also , I gotta get The Popeye Movie on DVD. Yes, the Robin Williams one. I *like* it.

I got a bad disease,
Up from my brain is where I bleed.
Insanity it seems,
Has got me by my soul to squeeze.
Well all the love from me,
With all these dying trees I scream.
The Angels in my dreams,
have turned to demons of greed,
That's me.

Where I'll go, I just don't know,
I got to, got to, gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna give you some of my good time.

Today loves smile on me,
It took away my pain, said please
All that you ride is free,
You gotta let it be,
Oh yeah.

Where I'll go I just don't know,
I got to, gotta, gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna give you some of my good time.

You're so polite indeed,
Well I got everything I need.
Oh make my days a breeze,
And take away my self destruction.

It's bitter baby,
And it's very sweet.
I'm on a rollercoaster,
but I'm on my feet.
Take me to the river,
Let me on your shore.
I'll be coming back baby,
I'll be coming back for more.

Doo doo doo doo dingle zing a dong bone
Ba-di ba-da ba-zumba crunga cong gone bad

I could not forget
But I will not endeavor
Simple pleasures aren't as special
But I wont regret it never.

Where I'll go I just dont't know,
I got to, got to, gotta take it slow.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna give you some of my good time.

Where I'll go I just don't know,
I might end up somewhere in Mexico.
When I find my piece of mind,
I'm gonna keep you for the end of time

It occurs to me that I've been at Domino's about 6 months now. I'm your basic multiclass there, being a level 5 Driver and level 2 or so Assistant Manager. I'm hoping the GM shows me the real magic soon...

It's a jungle out there
Disorder and confusion everywhere
No one seems to care.  Well I do.
Hey, who's in charge here?

It's a jungle out there
Poison in the very air we breathe
Do you know what's in the water that you drink?
Well I do, and it's amazing

People think I'm crazy, 'cause I worry all the time
If you paid attention, you'd be worried too
You better pay attention
Or this world we love so much
might
just
kill
you

I could be wrong now,
but I don't think so.

It's a jungle out there, it's a jungle out there.

Tetsujin28 Britt Daniels [31 Jul 2006|10:14pm]
Tet was nothing but friendly on City of Heroes. I'll miss him for that, if nothing else. And there's too much else to miss him for.

Tet was a friendly voice, a ready hand with a snarky comeback and a joke. His humor sometimes caused trouble on the boards, but he was a good guy. He was my friend, goddammit.

Fuck.

I was going to write something here, but fuck it. Britt Daniels was my friend, even if we didn't know each others' names.

I'm gonna miss him.
