This November, A book called Popeye Vol. 1: "I Yam What I Yam " is being released by Fanagraphics. It's the first in a new reprint series of Thimble Theater and Popeye comic strips. (With color Sundays!) I'm excited.

I wonder, though, is there a reprint of the first 10 or so years of Thimble Theater, before Popeye came to town?

If so, where can I get my hands on it?

Also , I gotta get The Popeye Movie on DVD. Yes, the Robin Williams one. I *like* it.

I think Kitchen Sink or somebody did a Thimble Theater collection a while ago. If so, it's definitely long out of print and probably hellishly expensive. :(

I checked with my more knowledgeable friend. The collection I was thinking about seems to have been an earlier Fantagraphics collection, and probably started with the Popeye strips. He's going to dig a little deeper, though.
